German glass jar manufacturer J Weck and its subsidiary Weck Glaswerk have filed for insolvency.
The company, with a glass production site in Bonn, has faced high energy prices and lower demand.
The company is best known for manufacturing glass jars used for food preserves such as jams.
With a strawberry logo, brand name and orange sealing ring, they have become a symbol of food canning.
The glass plant in Bonn employs 260 people while the group's administration, sales and publishing business are located in South Baden where 115 people work.
