The China Glass Exhibition 2018 will help to boost the Chinese glass industry, predicts fair organiser Beijing ZhongGui Exhibition Company.

Recent data from the National Statistics Bureau (NSB) shows that the total output of the flat glass industry in the first 11 months of 2017 was 730.65 weight cases, with a 3.9% rise compared with 2016.

The predicted gross output of the flat glass industry in 2017 was 800 million weight cases, which had increased by 3.36% since 2016 with a profit of around RMB 10 billion ($1.5 billion).

The international glass industry has introduced new technology, equipment, products, business aesthetics and innovation.

This has inspired China’s glass industry to rejuvenate their development strategies. This includes replacing the repetitive, extensive and quantitative development pattern of the industry with a new pattern of middle, high-end and green development.

As a result of this, China’s glass industry performed better than expected in terms of output and profit in 2017.

In the second half of 2017, flat glass manufacturers witnessed their business profit and products rise in price. This shows that the Chinese glass industry has now entered a new era of reforming and adjusting the structure of the supply chain, cutting down overcapacity, shoring up weak spots, ensuring growth and increasing benefits.

Furthermore, China’s plan for 2018 is to implement its 13th five-year-plan and carry out its 19th national congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The country will also work on cutting its overcapacity, energy efficiency, enforcing stricter environmental protection and restructuring the industrial glass process.

China’s economic frameworks such as The Belt and Road Initiative, the Coordinated Development for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Consumption Upgrading of the Chinese Market and the Intelligent Manufacturing Revolution will bring about new business opportunities.

They will also bring production cooperation and increase the market of architectural glass and the exporting of glass. As a result, glass-processing companies will increase demands for new technology and equipment.

The China Glass Exhibition is the biggest glass trade fair in Asia, which covers glass sectors such as products, application, manufacture technology, equipment, processing machinery, raw materials and refractory.

The exhibition will include booths for all 825 businesses, which include 585 domestic and 240 overseas companies. The exhibition will attract more than 40,000 glass industry insiders, including famous company leaders and engineers.

Well-known brands from all over China will attend the event, including the China Building Materials Academy, Triumph International, North Glass, Luoyang Float Glass Group and many more. In addition, many international companies from mainly the flat glass sector will attend, including LiSec, Corning, Glasston and Bystronic Glass.

China Glass 2018 will hold more than 10 seminars and promotion meetings, covering hot topics in the industry. This includes glass saving technology, vacuum glass production technology, oxy-fuel furnaces with novel oxygen and natural glass preheating technology.

The exhibition strives to promote professionalisation, internationalisation and improved development. The Chinese Ceramic Society (CCS), the exhibition organiser, has explored new approaches to provide better service for both the exhibitors and visitors. These include integrating industry resources accumulated over the decades, as well as taking advantage of new media platforms and internet tools.

China Glass 2018’s ultimate goal is to build an efficient communication platform for technology exchanges and business talks.

The exhibition will contribute to boosting the development of new products, new technology and new thoughts in the glass industry.

China Glass 2018 will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) on 19-22 April 2018.
