AGC Glass Company North America has announced that it plans to restart an idled production line at its Tennessee plant, USA and re-instate 100 jobs once the line becomes operational.
“We are pleased to announce our plans to restart the G1 float line. This float line will be an important boost for our company as we seek to grow our glass business in North America,” said Mark Ishiko, President and Chief Executive Officer.
The G1 production line will manufacture float glass for the architectural and automotive markets. Construction on the line will begin in summer 2012 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
The company shut down the production line in 2008 and laid-off approximately 250 people at the time.
