A roundtable event on solar and pattern glass is scheduled for 27 July.
Organised by the All India Glass Manufacturers' Federation (AIGMF), the event will take place at CGCRI Kolkata in collaboration with BIS, GSI and FOSG.
The event will run from 10am to 4pm and features a range of speakers and subjects.
After the welcome address, Professor Bikramjit Basu, Director at CSIR–Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), will briefly discuss R&D facilities and the need for testing.
Afterwards, Mr. Shreevar Kheruka, senior Vice President at AIGMF and Managing Director and CEO of Borosil, will give an overview on solar glass manufacturing.
The topic of the day is ‘Strengthening solar and pattern glass and developing new standards.
After the welcome speeches, Mr Mohit Garg, who works in the Chemical Department of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), will give an overview of Indian glass standards, covering textured and extra clear textured glass as per IS 5437: 2024, as well as solar applications of safety glass as per IS 2553: 2026.
Mr Varun Gupta, Ex-Com member of AIGMF and director at Triveni Renewables, will then talk about the strengthening of solar glass and developing unbreakable solutions.
Mr Gupta is followed by a talk on pattern glass applications by Mr Purvish Shah, General Secretary at AIGMF and director in Gopal Glass Works and Gobind Glass and Industries.
At 12.25, a discussion and Q&A will take place between Dr. K Annapurna, Chief Scientist at CSIR-CGCRI, Mr. Gohul Deepak, Executive Director for the Glazing Society of India, Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Chairman of the Federation of Safety Glass (FOSG) and Managing Director at Gurind India, and Mr. Rajesh Khosla, President of AIGMF.
Following on from this, Mr Ajay Tewari, Sc-E & Head (CHD) at BIS, will deliver a vote of thanks, and Mr Vinit Kapur, Secretary for AIGMF, will outline next steps for solar glass.
AIGMF members are welcomed to join an executive committee meeting from 12.45 to 13.15, while BIS WG members can attend a Glass-Ceramic Cooktop WG meeting at 2pm.
