Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP) – Europe has collaborated with Absolut to release a limited edition vodka bottle.
The limited edition bottle celebrates the Spirit of Togetherness.
It was designed by Absolut’s in-house studio, The Mix Stockholm, working in collaboration with design agency Brand Union Stockholm and AGP - Europe.
Elin Furelid, Global Director Portfolio & Innovation at The Absolut Company, said the following on the bottle’s design:
“The bottle’s woven pattern on the glass surface reflects the notion that several intertwined threads are stronger than one individual string and shows that we form a stronger bond when we create things together.
“It is very important to highlight that working closely with our suppliers as partners has been crucial to this project. We could never realise a design like this without their expertise, so the entire collaboration behind this bottle is part of the concept of togetherness.”
AGP – Europe created the detailed woven effect on the glass surface using the Emboss with Image technique.
On the process, John Oczabruk, AGP – Europe Product Designer, said:
“We first modelled the woven pattern on a flat surface, then created a greyscale 3D photo to wrap the pattern around the bottle, which maintained the pattern shape, size and style across the range. The effect is incredibly realistic and creates a unique character for this Absolut Spirit of Togetherness bottle.”
As with all Absolut vodka bottles, this limited edition contains 53% recycled glass, which is high for a clear glass bottle.
Sustainability is a priority for The Absolut Company and Ardagh Glass Packaging.
The companies are co-investing in a hydrogen-fired glass furnace to reduce the CO2 emissions from making Absolut’s bottles.
