Four electric forklift trucks have replaced diesel forklifts at the Ardagh Glass Packaging facility in Bad Munder, Germany.

For the first time in AGP- Europe’s operation, lithium iron phosphate forklifts, with a lifting capacity of five tons, are being used to load the facility’s glass containers.

The forklift trucks run on a fast-charging battery and require little maintenance, which results in reduced loading times as well as reduced carbon emissions.

Frank Lübbering, Plant Director at Bad Münder facility, said: “All the forklifts are equipped with the latest technology: the batteries don’t need to be changed; they can be re-charged quickly, which is safer and more convenient for our drivers.

"Plus, there are zero carbon emissions, which helps us to achieve our sustainability targets.”
