Ardagh Glass looks set to close its Germersheim facility, Germany, with 260 jobs impacted.
It is in response to market conditions, with lower demand resulting in excess production capacity.
The company is in discussion with the management team and local employee representatives.
The site was established in 1971 and produces beer, wine, and sparkling wine bottles.
Two production lines were shut at the site last year, which resulted in the loss of 60 jobs.
