Beatson Clark has been manufacturing glass since 1751.

The Rotherham, UK company celebrated its 275th anniversary at its site on 16 July.

The event brought together glass manufacturers, packaging companies, and politicians at the oldest working glassworks in the UK.

Rotherham MP Sarah Champion also attended the celebration.

Beatson Clark offered tours of its factory, in use since 1751.

The factory houses two furnaces, K and J, and manufactures bottles and jars made of white flint and amber.

The company uses 45% cullet for its white flint furnace, J, and 55% for its amber furnace, K.

The tour included views of the hot-end and cold-end processes, an insight into the furnace control room, and a tour of the packaging and inspection processes.

Beatson Clark also showcased its new decoration plant, which was launched in 2024.

The tour gave a demonstration of the company’s spraying lines, including its electrostatic disk method.

It also revealed the company’s plans to open two screen-printing lines over the next few months.

As well as the tour, the celebration included glassblowing demonstrations, where attendees could create their own baubles.

It also featured a demonstration of the company’s virtual reality technology, which is used for employee health and safety training.

Memorabilia and products from Beatson Clark’s history were on display throughout the day.
