Swiss engineering group Bucher Emhart Glass reported a high demand for glass containers in its latest financial note.

In its Quarter Three, 2023 financial statement, the Cham, Switzerland glass-focused company said its customers had invested in modernising and expanding their plants.

It was only towards the end of the reporting period that signs appeared of an easing in global capacity utilisation for glass container production.

New production facilities are being also planned, but the momentum has levelled off, it said.

Order intake increased again, thanks primarily to a development with the company’s glass inspection machines.

Using artificial intelligence, these machines enable a fully automated setup of sidewall inspection, more reliable classification of defects and excellent detection rates.

The division's capacity utilisation remained very high due to its strong order book. Consequently, its

sales once again increased, helped especially by its good spare parts business.

Net sales for the January-September 2023 period increased by 12.5% to CHF385 million, compared to CHF342 million during the same period in 2022.
