Sales at Bucher Emhart Glass dropped by more than a quarter in 2025 compared to last year.

In its third quarter financial review, the glass forming and inspection engineering company said customers remained cautious with their investments in the first nine months of 2025.

In particular, orders for glass forming machines and sections remained low.

The slowdown was also noticeable in the inspection machinery segment.

The division benefited from the large number of installed glass forming machines and its high share of the spare parts business, which offers stability in the current difficult environment, despite the optimisation of customer inventories.

Production planning was adjusted in line with the lower order book and capacities were further reduced.

Sales for the first nine months of 2025 were down 26.2% at CHF261 million ($328.8 million) compared to CHF345million ($446 million) in the same period last year.

It also reported that its order intake was down 18.1% to CHF218 million ($274.7 million) compared to the same period last year.

The division is also pushing ahead with a consolidation of assembly and manufacturing activities in the area of inspection machines.
