The German Glass Industry Association (BV Glas) has appointed Christiane Nelles as CEO.

On July 1st, Ms Nelles took over from Dr Johann Overath, who is retiring after working at the association for more than 20 years.

Ms Nelles has worked for BV Glas for 17 years, most recently as Deputy Managing Director and Head of Energy and Climate Policy.

In these roles, she was responsible for all issues related to energy policy developments at the national and European levels.

BV-Glas President Dr Christian Quenett said: "We are pleased to have found a successor in Christiane Nelles, who not only has many years of experience in the glass industry, but also in association work.

“She thus brings with her the ideal qualifications to support the glass industry in the coming years with all its challenges.

“Our thanks go to Dr Johann Overath, who has represented the interests of the glass industry with great commitment, especially during the crises of recent years.”

Dr Overath has worked for BV Glas since 2002 and took over as CEO in 2006.

Under his leadership, the office was restructured, the Berlin office was established, and the association, which until then consisted of four specialist associations, was merged into one consolidated association.
