Celsian Glass USA has been selected by the US Department of Energy to develop a training programme to improve energy efficiency in glass melting furnaces.
The Ohio-based company was one of six organisations chosen to join the Industrial Sustainability, Energy Efficiency, and Decarbonization (ISEED) Collaborative.
Through this $3.6 million initiative, selected groups will develop and expand existing programmes that support the American workforce and provide pathways into the industrial sector.
The aim is to expand energy efficiency practices and increase the health and prosperity of Americans.
Celsian will implement three specialised training courses including Hands-On Hot Repair, Oxy-Fuel Furnace Operations, and Sustainable Furnace Operations to improve energy efficiency in glass-melting furnaces.
Assessments will track energy efficiency and operator career progression, and the courses becoming part of a national training platform for glass manufacturing in 2025.
Over a two-year period, each of the six organisations will receive DOE funding, technical support, and guidance to pilot and expand programmes that can be scaled regionally or nationally.
