An exhaust chimney partially broke down at Asahi India Glass (AIS)’s Soniyana facility in Rajasthan, India, on Sunday, 3 May 2026.

It is suspected that the damage was caused by a whirlwind at the float glass factory.

No injuries were reported, and all plant and machinery, including the furnace, continue to be functional.

AIS is currently assessing the extent of the damage and remains committed to identifying the root cause of the incident.

The company noted that the chimney was constructed according to industry standards, utilising proven designs and reputable, experienced fabricators.

Furthermore, AIS said supplies to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and project customers remain unaffected.
