Ciner Glass has started building the first furnace at its container glass site in Lommel, Belgium.
The Lommel site will include two 650 tpd furnaces, the second of which is scheduled to come into operation in 2027.
The foundation stone of the first furnace was officially placed last week.
Ciner estimated that over 1 million bricks would be placed in total for the furnace.
The construction of the first chimney for the furnace has also begun.
The Aertssen Group, a Belgian construction company, will install the 100-metre-high chimney.
The Lommel plant is expected to be up and running in the second quarter of 2026.
With the completion of the second furnace, the site will reach its full capacity of 1,300 tpd.
