Corning has invested in View Inc., with the aim of developing the company’s ‘Dynamic Glass’ technology for exterior architectural applications, which regulates the amount of heat and light that enters a building.

According to the company, this technology adjusts between a clear and variable tint depending on environmental factors and user preference. Whilst the product is not new, the two companies hope their combined efforts will bring it to the mainstream of architectural applications.

Some of the aesthetic benefits on offer are increased natural light and better views; whilst for technical benefits the companies report that in a typical commercial installation annual HVAC and lighting energy consumption is reduced by 20%, while HVAC peak load is reduced by 25%.
