Continued cost reductions helped Libbey to a 0.3% rise in sales y-o-y in Q2.

It said continued success in cost reductions as well as improved sales in regions other than North America helped boost its sales.

Sales for the second quarter were $209.9 million, compared to $209.2 million for the second quarter of 2012, an increase of 0.3%.

CEO Stephanie A. Streeter said lower sales in the retail and business-to-business channels of distribution in the USA and Canada were low.

But there were sales increases in other end markets including EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Mexico and Latin America.

She said: “The key component of our story, however, is our continued success in cost reductions, which resulted in record adjusted income from operations and adjusted EBITDA.”

She added the performance was even more notable due to a significant amount of underused capacity throughout the Americas due to the company’s realignment plan.
