The fate of emblematic French tableware group Duralex will be decided on July 26 after a commercial court postponed its decision.

The Orléans commercial court, after having analysed three takeover bids for six hours on Wednesday 17 July and postponed its decision until next Friday.

The glass manufacturing site in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin (Loiret), a town in the Orléans metropolitan area employs 228 people.

The first offer is that of the Société coopérative de production (Scop). Supported by 60% of the staff and led by the site management, the company is proposing to keep the entire workforce, and has obtained the support of local elected officials.

No fewer than 150 employees of the company in favour of the project have already invested €500 of their own money said the workers union.

The second offer is that of SARL Tourres et Cie, owned by Stéphanie and Adrien Tourres. Owner of two Waltersperger glassworks in Seine-Maritime, the company plans to keep 183 employees, and to establish technical and commercial synergies within the group.

The third offer comes from Carlesimo Investissements/GCB Investissements, a family-owned industrial group that owns two foundries. It is only offering to take over 125 employees.
