EME has been awarded the contract to install the batch plant for Glass Futures’ Global Centre of Excellence in St Helens, UK.
Following a competitive engineering tender, EME was awarded the contract in March 2022 to install a batch plant for the state-of-the-art research and development facility.
The experimental facility is a substantial stepping-stone to cutting emissions, designed to work both collaboratively or privately with Glass Futures’ members to identify and deliver sustainable industry solutions.
Due for completion next year, Glass Futures will be a global hub for R&D, innovation and training, with the target of eliminating carbon from mass production in the glass industry, as well as other foundation industries.
EME’s technical department has already started working on the project and ordered equipment including the secondary steel from the UK and a mixer, with plans to install four huge silos at the site which is situated right next to St Helens RFC’s home stadium.
Dr. Sebastian Woltz, Sales Director, EME: “It’s a big opportunity for EME to bring in new ideas new concepts and to develop something with such a team.”
