Bucher Emhart Glass said the decline in demand for its technology appeared to be easing and the bottom may be in sight.
In its financial report for the first quarter of the year though, it said order intake was lower than the corresponding period last year and its customers continued to be cautious with investments.
Order intake for the first three months of 2026 was CHF72 million, down 7.3% compared to the same period last year.
Net sales were CHF73 million, down 35.3% from the same period in 2025.
In the report it said orders for glass forming machines and sections as well as inspection machines remained at a low level. The service and spare parts business was stable.
Sales fell due to a lack of major projects and low order intake in previous periods. Production planning was adjusted to the lower order book.
It anticipates much lower sales this year compared to 2025 and that profit will be lower than in 2025.
