A fire broke out at a Taiwanglass factory in Taichung, on Monday, 27 October 2025, following a kiln malfunction.

According to local authorities, more than 1,300 tons of molten glass flowed inside the facility, eventually reaching the basement.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished after approximately three hours.

Firefighters estimated that the temperature inside the factory reached between 1,400 and 1,500°C.

The factory activated its anti-fire systems instantly, and the sprinklers were turned on to reduce the temperature.

Firefighters deployed three more water lines to cool down the factory.

The company stated that it is assessing the situation.

It said that when the temperature permits, staff will check for any equipment malfunctions and take further action.

The affected plant, located in the Wuqi District, produces touch glass, processed glass, and solar glass.

The company has not yet confirmed whether the fire has affected its production lines.
