A fire at Verallia’s glass bottle manufacturing facility in Mendoza, Argentina destroyed machines and equipment on the shop floor.

According to local media, the fire started at 9.15am on Sunday and extinguished by 11.30am.

According to official sources, the flames originated in one of the company's warehouses, and little by little they spread throughout the rest of the facilities.

The explosion affected the glass melting furnace and destroyed machines and equipment on the shop floor.

The cause of the fire is unknown and no one was hurt.

The glass factory, formerly Rayén Curá, in Rodeo de la Cruz, Guaymallén is a historic factory founded 1947 and was renamed Verallia when it merged with French investors.

Verallia has been contacted for comment.
