Experts from Guardian Industries, Proctor and Gamble and Siemens are among the first speakers to be confirmed for the forthcoming Glass Focus conference, organised by British Glass.
Six speakers have been announced so far for the event, which takes place on May 12 in Edinburgh, UK, with more to be named in the coming weeks.
Topics such as decoupling growth, energy use and emissions; anticipating tomorrow’s demands from designers, manufacturers and customers; and applying cutting edge glass technology to solve global problems, will be discussed.
Speakers include Guardian Industries’ Vice President of Science and Technology, Sheldon Davis, who is responsible for product development. Based in Detroit, his work includes creating Guardian’s next-generation, high value-added and speciality float products.
Dr Simon Elmer leads Procter and Gamble's Luxury Fragrance Package Development R&D group. With a career in P&G Beauty Package Development spanning 20 years, he’s spent the last 10 years specialising in fragrances.
Steve Barker heads Siemens’ Energy Efficiency and Environmental Care programme and has been a chartered engineer for more than 25 years.
He has worked with clients including NSG Pilkington and others in the glass sector and knows how to deliver the changes that make a positive impact on a business’ bottom line.
They will be joined by corporate financier, Nicholas Mocket, who is Head of Packaging Mergers and Acquisitions at Moorgate Capital; Kenny Dalgarno who is Sir James Woodeson Professor of Manufacturing Engineering at Newcastle University; and Will Dawson who is Head of Energy at Forum for the Future.
The day-long event also includes an awards evening, which will showcase the best the industry has to offer in seven categories including glass design, sustainable processes development and corporate social responsibility.
