Glass production equipment supplier Fives has provided furnace technology for Turkish glassmaker Düzce Cam’s float line.
The complete float glass line with a melting capacity of 800t/day can produce a glass thickness from 3mm to 10mm.
The start-up took place as planned on 15 November at the Düzce site, 220km from Istanbul in the presence of staff, commissioning teams and suppliers to te plant.
The new float glass line incorporates the latest melting technologies, in compliance with quality, output and energy performance objectives, for the production of residential and automotive glass.
The major asset of this new float glass line is Fives’s proprietary furnace technology with ultra-low energy consumption Prium Melt Float Low Energy Melter (LEM).
The furnace makes it possible to save up to 20% energy compared to conventional technologies, thanks to its geometry.
The furnace is also equipped with a digital control system and smart software for production optimization, providing an overall vision of the glassmaking process.
Düzce Cam is now ready to embark on a major expansion after only three years since its successful entry into float glass production.
Its first float glass line of 600t/day was supplied by Fives Stein in 2010.
