Glass moulding components provider Fonderie Valdelsane has completed the installation of a photovoltaic system of nearly 1,650kWh in its Monteriggioni, Italy facilities.

More than 3,000 solar panels were installed on a total area of about 12,000m2, making it the largest built so far in the Siena province of Italy.

As part of the inauguration, a special event was organised, with the participation of representatives of local authorities, Confederation of Italian Industry, trade unions and law enforcement.

Roberto Gerbi, chairman of Fonderie Valselsane’s Board of Directors, said: “Our commitment to the environmental sustainability and to CO2 emissions reduction lead us to make this kind of decision.

“Fonderie Valdelsane is a energy-consuming company and the project that we developed together with our technicians and consultants is fully part of those initiatives promoted by the companies which choose to innovate to face the global energy issues.”

Fonderie Valdelsane is a member of the Carbon Neutrality Area. The new photovoltaic system will contribute to a further reduction of 613 tonnes per year of CO2 emissions.
