German pharmaceutical company Gerresheimer is to invest in a new factory in the Technological-Industrial Development Zones (TIRZs), Skopje, North Macedonia.

The decision on the company's investment was announced by Gerresheimer vice president Oliver Burgel, at a meeting with Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski.

The start of construction on its existing premise in the TIRZ is planned in the third quarter of this year, while series production should begin in 2024.

It will manufacture prefillable RTF syringes made of glass. The expansion will create about 200 new jobs.

Gerresheimer already has one production facility in the TIRZs, which makes medical plastic devices for the pharma industry and the medical technology sector.
