Gerresheimer has upgraded its facilities in the US, adding two automated warehouses.
The German pharmaceutical glass manufacturer expanded its productions and logistics capacity at its plant in Peachtree City, Georgia, USA.
The company also commissioned two automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RSs) for pallets from Interlake Mecalux, a warehouse technology and intralogistics software company.
Mecalux develops automated storage solutions, warehouse management software and metal racking systems for all sectors.
Tobias Gebhard, Global Head of smart factory automation for medical systems at Gerresheimer, said: “Expanding our Peachtree City plant is a key step towards strengthening our presence in the US and being even closer to our customers in the healthcare industry.”
The expansion created over 400 new jobs, and added new cleanrooms and automated production lines to the plant’s facilities.

Gerresheimer’s automation of its production lines marks a turning point in its manufacturing history.
The company has operated with manual processes for years, but decided to automate its material flows to achieve greater precision, safety, and efficiency.
Mr Gebhard added: “In an environment where every component must be handled with the utmost care, automation adds a new level of control and reliability.”

The software assigns each item a location based on its demand level and sends instructions to the stacker cranes for transport.
This ensures that all devices are immediately available when needed, while maintaining real-time control over every stored unit.
