Glass for Europe has appointed Joana Arreguy, Glass Industrial Director at Saint-Gobain, as Chairwoman.
Ms Arreguy began her career at Saint-Gobain in 2011 and has since then held different managerial positions in supply chain management, technical and industrial affairs.
She is now responsible for the industrial direction of upstream and downstream transformation, as well as the supply of flat glass and glazing products throughout all regions.
On her new role, Ms Arreguy said she was “honoured” to join Glass for Europe as Chairwoman: “I am particularly thrilled to continue the work already engaged in Glass for Europe to ensure the future position of the flat glass industry in a climate neutral Europe. Our sector shall continue to provide solutions to cut CO2 emissions in buildings and in the mobility sector.
“I know the responsibilities which are ours: to look for all opportunities to decarbonise our industrial processes while staying competitive. Europe’s flat glass manufacturing sector shall continue leading the way.”
Bertrand Cazes, Secretary General of Glass for Europe, welcomed the new Chairwoman whose mandate starts while Europe is confronted with an unprecedented energy crisis endangering the industry.
The association believes the uninterrupted supply of energy and mitigation of soaring energy costs are indispensable for the flat glass industry to maintain its operations and to be able to pursue its long-term vision.
