Glass Futures has appointed Adrian Curry as the Chair of its Board of Directors.
Mr Curry succeeds Mike Houghton, Chief Commercial Officer of Process Industries Software at Siemens.
Glass Futures said it was grateful to Mr Houghton for his leadership and dedication during his tenure.
Mr Curry, formerly Deputy Chair of the Board, brings expertise and a long-standing commitment to Glass Futures.
Justin Kelly, CEO of Glass Futures, said: “Adrian has been a champion of sustainable innovation in glass for many years.
“His leadership and vision have already helped shape some of the most impactful projects in our industry.
“As Chair, he will be instrumental in guiding Glass Futures through its next phase of growth and global collaboration.”
Mr Curry has over 27 years of experience at Encirc, including 19 years as Managing Director.
During this time, he led several industrial-scale trials conducted in collaboration with Glass Futures.
This includes the 2021 biofuel trial at Encirc’s Derrylin site in Northern Ireland, UK.
During the project, Encirc produced bottles made from 100% recycled glass using ultra-low-carbon biofuels.
This reduced the carbon footprint of each bottle by up to 90%.
Adrian Curry said: “Having worked closely with Glass Futures on pioneering trials that have reshaped what’s possible in sustainable glassmaking, I’m honoured to take on the role of Chair.
“I encourage everyone across the glass value chain including manufacturers, suppliers, brands, and end-users, to join our global network and help drive the innovation needed to secure a low-carbon future for glass.”
Mr Curry is also a former President of British Glass, and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Gallo Glass.
