Exhibitors said this year’s glasstec was a success and they are optimistic for the future.
The majority of the 1162 exhibitors said visitors were of good quality while a number said they were following some strong leads. Many were hopeful that the show would help stimulate the industry.
The number of visitors was 43,000, slightly down from the 45,000 of the last event.
Visitors were from the fields of mechanical engineering, industry, skilled trades, architects/(façade) planners as well as the solar sector. More than half of those attending were international visitors while more than two-thirds were from mid to top management.
Zippe’s Graduate Engineer Sales and Marketing Dept, Horst Moser, said: “For us glasstec has always been a highlight and a platform for promising discussions – and this year was no exception.
Bystronic’s Manager Corporate Communication, Peter Nischwitz, said: “This year right from the first day we had a great deal of visitors at our stand. We look forward to successful post-fair business – and the first signs of this are already being felt.”
“glasstec 2012 sent out a clear positive signal for the sector in economic times that are difficult to predict, and proved its quality as a fair of innovations and the key meeting point for the sector,” said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Udo Ungeheuer, President of glasstec 2012 and Chairman of the Management Board of Schott.
“Exhibitors reported good order activity amongst their customers. This shows that glasstec came exactly at the right time. This news does the sector good and underlines the international importance of the fair,” commented Hans Werner Reinhard, Deputy Managing Director at Messe Düsseldorf.
A day before the fair, experts from the glass and solar industry discussed their interfacing markets at the “Solar meets Glass – 3rd Industry Summit for Markets, Costs and Technology’ conference.
A full review of the conference and Glasstec/Solarpeq will be available in the November issue of Glass International.
