Guardian Industries celebrated a triple anniversary at its Goole, UK site.

The flat glass producer marked its 10th year as a UK float glass manufacturer, its 5th year of its laminating line and its magnetron sputter coater launched in September last year.

It held an event on 11th June, which saw all areas of the glass and glazing industry come together, including large distributors to national window companies and smaller businesses.

Scott Thomsen, President of Guardian’s Global Flat Glass Division gave a keynote speech talking about the industry on a global scale. He explained his ideas and views on innovation and adding value to the flat glass products.

He then went into detail about Guardian’s magnetron glass coater and how vacuum sputter coaters offer the pinnacle of modern glass coating technology and represent the future for all new flat glass coatings.

Mr Thomsen finished by explaining how Guardian has always worked to support the independent glass and glazing industry and the mutual benefits of working closely together as a long term strategy.

His speech was then followed by Mark Bristow, Regional Manager for Guardian’s Flat Glass Division in the UK & Ireland, Mark spoke about the history of the UK plant and the way it has diversified and grown over the last 10 years, he talked about the hurdles Guardian had to leap to establish itself in the UK

After lunch, attendees were given a tour of the float glass plant, viewing facilities, equipment and machinery to service the UK market.

The day was concluded with a tour of the Glass Room and Guardian’s Innovation room which presented products launched by Guardian past and present.
