Mexican container glass manufacturer Crown Sivesa has completed a major furnace repair project.
The work was once again carried out by German glass melting technology company Horn at the manufacturer's site in Orizaba, Veracruz.
Building on a strong partnership forged through previous successful collaborations, including the commissioning of a 450 t/d end-fired furnace for Crown Vichisa in Chihuahua (2017), a high-performance 360 t/d recuperative furnace B in Orizaba (2018), and the rebuild of Furnace A in 2020, Horn was entrusted with the repair of Furnace C.
This latest project involved the complete refractory repair of a 375 t/d cross-fired glass melting furnace, maintaining the existing design at the Sivesa Orizaba plant.
In addition, the furnace was upgraded with modern equipment supplied by Horn.
Designed to produce amber, green, and flint container glass, the modernised furnace now operates with four production lines.
The furnace successfully delivered its first glass on April 22.
