UK-based company D A Oldfield has achieved 30 years of service manufacturing and supplying hot end equipment to the global glass industry.

The family-owned company was founded in 1994 by Don Oldfield (left), who has been in the industry for over 70 years, and Garry Oldfield (right), who has over 40 years of service.

Both are seasoned “glass men” who have worked in research and development, the drawing office, as well as machine and fitting shops.

In addition, they previously handled installation and commissioning in glassworks from Europe to the Far East.

Based in the UK, the company is in the business of reconditioning and manufacturing new and used hot end equipment.

This includes a range of feeders, IS machine spares, advanced gob loading equipment, cross conveyors, transfer drives, transfers, and stackers.

Over the last 30 years, the company has worked to establish itself globally, creating lifetime bonds with customers and sharing knowledge to help them navigate the supplier market.

The company also assists customers in upgrading their production lines to suit the modern demand of making more from less.

As the company has expanded to meet demand, more family members have joined the team: Gina Oldfield (Garry’s daughter) controls the office and website, and Ben Jefferies (Garry’s son-in-law) works in the drawing office.

Meanwhile, Dr Nina Oldfield is company secretary, and Hazel Oldfield works in admin.

In the last 10 years, the company purchased the intellectual property rights of the UK company “IS Maintenance”, which has expanded its opportunities to supply the IS machine side of the industry.

D A Oldfield assured a continuous supply of IS maintenance products.

Using original drawings, patterns, and castings the company began manufacturing and, where necessary, improving these products, making them in line with its standards.

This effort resulted in the company manufacturing its Advanced Loading Systems, as well as its most efficient high-performance funnel boxes to date, utilising new machining practices and know-how.

The acquisition also helped the company to grow its customer base across Europe.

D A Oldfield said: “We are looking forward to the next 10 years with open minds in a changing world.

“With climate and fuel efficiency forcing change in our industry, D A Oldfield is well-placed to assist your glass company with your next project or spare parts.”
