The annual glass technology forum, Hotbels, has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event was due to take place in Lexington, KY, USA and is organised by Hotwork USA and Fosbel.

The two companies collaborate to present information on the advancement of innovation and technology to the glass industry.

The organiser said: "Hotbels has been closely monitoring recent developments of the spread and transmission of the COVID-19 coronavirus both globally and domestically. After consideration by our hosting companies, Hotwork USA and Fosbel Inc, the decision has been made to cancel our annual glass technology forum, Hotbels.

"The cancellation of Hotbels is the result of a US Government declared State of Emergency, health authorities’ instructions to practice social distancing, as well as health safety practices set forth by the World Health Organization (WHO) to curb the spread of the virus.

"The decision to cancel the event was made with the health of attendees, participants, and venue service personnel in mind.

"Please check back often as we will be providing updates on the status of issuing proper reimbursement to those who have registered."

The event was due to take place this week.
