Thailand’s BG Container Glass Company cited improved production efficiency for an increase in profit.
It said investments in new technology as well as a cold repair of its glass furnace no.1 in its Ayutthaya helped boost production which led to a 39% increase in profit.
Quarter 2 2024 gross profit for its glass packaging division was THB 541 million ($15.8 million), an increase of THB 152 million or 39% YoY.
It said the glass packaging industry had benefited from soda ash and the trend of decreased energy prices, while the cost of key raw materials such as cullet as well as electricity costs, had remained stable.
Technology it has adopted includes an Intelligent Furnace Control System (ESIII), and it has joined an Energy Saving Projects with ESCO (Energy Service Company) to optimise electricity and energy consumption.
