The International Commission on Glass (ICG) has appointed Hiroyuki Inoue as its President.

The ICG revealed the change in leadership at its annual meeting, which took place in Incheon, South Korea, this year.

At the meeting, Reinhard Conradt handed over his position as president to Hiroyuki Inoue.

Mr Inoue is the former Vice President of the ICG, and is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Tokyo in Japan.

He was also awarded a fellowship from the Ceramic Society of Japan in 2019 for his outstanding achievements in the field of ceramics.

The ICG said: “We extend our warm congratulations to Prof. Inoue and express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Conradt for his dedicated service and invaluable contributions.”

Mr Conradt served as president of ICG for the period of 2021-2024.

The ICG is an international association of scientists and technologists, research centres, universities and companies, with 600 experts in all branches of glass science and technology.

Its main objective is to promote understanding and co-operation in the field of glass.
