The International Festival of Glass returns to the historic Stourbridge Glass Quarter, UK and promises to be a real show stopper.

Over the Bank Holiday weekend (24 – 27 August) the Festival will be showcasing some of the most innovative and inspirational glass in the world.

Its programme of high quality exhibitions is being staged across the Stourbridge Glass Quarter.

These include the British Glass Biennale exhibition which recognises and celebrates the best of British glass making; 21st Century Engraved Glass, a national exhibition of contemporary and traditional original glass engraving by members of the Guild of Glass Engravers and Back to the Future, an exhibition of West Midlands-based makers featuring work inspired by the Broadfield House Glass Museum’s collections.

Artists’ studios across the Glass Quarter will be open thoughout the Festival, with a diverse array of works for sale.

The Fun Auction (hosted by Will Farmer, Director of Fieldings Auctioneers and a regular on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow) at the Ruskin Glass Centre (Monday 4pm) is a great opportunity to acquire a bargain.

The Festival Finale on Monday evening is Glasshionistas, a Mardi Gras style pageant parade to see out the 2012 Festival in flamboyant style.
