Krones will liquidate its digital container glass decoration division, Dekron, by the end of the month.

It blamed the current market situation for the decision.

Dekron is best known in the glass industry for its work with O-I. It supplied digital printing equipment to the world’s largest container glass manufacturer for its O-I Expressions solution.

Dekron informed its staff, customers, suppliers and business associates in November. From 2024 onward, the service support required for existing lines will be provided by Krones’ own service technicians.

Dekron has developed and manufactured machines from the DecoType series used for digitally decorating containers made of glass, PET and HDPE since 2018, with the group’s subsidiary KIC Krones supplying the matching UV inks.

Krones has synergised in Dekron its own development activities and the business operations of Till, in which the company has had a majority holding since 2014.

The subsidiary will be liquidated on December 31, 2023 and the facility in Kelkheim closed down as part of the phase-out. A reconciliation of interests has already been negotiated with all members of staff.
