Libbey Glass, a glassware manufacturer, has announced that for the quarter-ended 31st December 2011, sales were $214.8 million, compared to $222.8 million the previous year.
Sales in the glass operations segment were $199.2 million, a decrease of 1.1%, compared to $201.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2010. While sales within the China sales region increased 47.9%, sales within the USA and Canadian sales region were 4.1% lower than the prior-year quarter.
The company saw growth of 0.9% in sales within the European sales region (a 1.6% increase excluding the impact of currency). Sales to the USA and Canadian foodservice glassware customers increased by 1.3%. Glassware sales to USA and Canadian retail customers were flat during the fourth quarter of 2011, while glassware sales to USA and Canadian business-to-business customers were down 21% during the quarter.
