The Malaysian Glass Association (MGA) is reporting an upturn in business, with a MYR3bil (US$927.5mil) turnover.

Since the financial crisis in 2008, much of the glass industry has struggled to remain profitable. Fortunately, there have been signs of recovery in the glass industry over the past two years, and the Chairman of the MGA has announced that "The local glass industry is booming with RM3bil turnover for both glass manufacturing and processing streams of the industry".

Mr. Ho also said that the glass industry remains robust and has created more than 10,000 jobs. Glasstech Asia 2013 was also held in Malaysia this year, no doubt indicating the region’s potential in terms of prosperity for the glass industry.
