Japan’s Nippon Electric Glass (NEG) has entered in a business alliance with compatriot Yokowo.
The aim is to accelerate the development of products and technologies in the semiconductor and information and communications sectors.
The alliance will combine NEG’s materials development technologies with Yokowo’s device development technologies.
The aim is to drive the development of high-value-added products and business expansion.
This includes the development of technologies used in test substrates, evaluation substrates, and test tools for semiconductor and optoelectronic integration.
It will also include business related to the joint development of antennas and related technologies for 5G and 6G.
NEG develops, manufactures, and sells speciality glass products.
In the field of electronic devices, NEG provides various glass products, primarily for the semiconductor and information and communications sectors.
It is actively pursuing product development and business expansion utilising Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) technology.
LTCC technology is a type of multilayer ceramic circuit board that uses silver or copper— materials with low electrical resistance—as conductors.
NEG conducts its LTCC business through LTCC Materials, a joint venture established with Yokowo (70% owned by NEG and 30% by Yokowo ).
NEG and Yokowo have each acquired shares in the other company, up to a total of 500 million yen ($3.1 million).
