Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) is to make capacity cuts in Europe and in the USA.

One of its two float lines at its Laurinburg, North Carolina, USA site will be idled between August and September this year.

In Europe it will put its Architectural float furnace at Porto Marghera, Venice, Italy, on ‘hot-hold'. This means that the furnace will be kept in an active state from which it can be restarted at short notice

In May the company said it would postpone the restart of one of its float lines in Gladbeck, Germany, which is currently undergoing a planned cold repair.

The company said it aimed to recommence production on both lines as soon as market conditions improve.
