Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) Group has started operation of a float furnace in Vietnam.
The previously dormant float furnace at NSG Vietnam Glass Industries (VGI) located near Ho Chi Minh City was restarted earlier this month.
It will produce transparent conductive oxide (TCO) coated glass for solar panels and is one of two lines at the site.
TCO glass production at VGI has been positioned to support a long-term supply agreement with First Solar, a provider of photovoltaic (PV) solar system.
It is manufactured with an online coating technology, in which a conductive oxide on the glass surface is formed during its passage through the float line.
Online coating also enables cost effective production of coated glass in high volume.
