The NSG Group has begun operations at its converted solar glass facility in the US.
An existing float line at Pilkington North America’s factory in Rossford, Ohio, has been converted to produce transparent conductive oxide (TCO) glass.
The factory will begin producing TCO glass from March 2025.
The conversion represents a considerable investment by the group.
It has also resulted in the retention and creation of jobs at the site.
The investment will support the expansion strategy of First Solar, an American photovoltaic (PV) solar technology and manufacturing company.
First Solar and NSG share a long-standing strategic partnership.
First Solar is focused enabling power generation needs with its thin film PV technology.
NSG’s TCO glass will be manufactured with an online coating technology.
This technology allows for a conductive oxide to be formed on the glass surface during its passage through the float line.
Online coating also enables cost-effective production of coated glass in high volume.
