O-I Glass’ Gordon Hardie said it was a privilege to be the CEO of the world’s largest glass container company.
Speaking at the company’s financial results for Quarter Two, 2024, he thanked all those at O-I ‘who tirelessly focus on our customers and their consumers every day.’
“It is this focus and attention to quality that makes O-I a trusted partner and supplier to many of the world's leading food and beverage brands.”
He has been an O-I Board Member for the past eight years and said he had seen first-hand the progress the team has made to make O-I a more integrated and capable company.
Since being appointed in May, he has travelled widely and met with many key stakeholders across the value chain including customers, suppliers, retail stores and on-premise outlets.
“I’ve spoken to over 1,000 O-I colleagues around the world, from the shop floor to the leadership team, to better understand how to make O-I more competitive. I've been impressed by the knowledge, skills, and resilience of the O-I team across the company, as well as by their willingness to face reality and offer concrete ideas for improvement.”
His discussions have also been with customers, suppliers, retail stores, on-premise outlets and contacts in the food and beverage industries.
“From these interactions, I have a much deeper understanding of stakeholders and market dynamics. I also gained critical insights into how to make our company safer, fitter, more sustainable, and more valuable.”
