O-I Glass is to layoff 70% of staff at its Portland, USA manufacturing facility .
The layoffs will begin next month after the world’s largest container glass manufacturer said there had been recent declines in North American wine production and consumption.
O-I said it will indefinitely suspend glass production at its Portland, OR facility resulting in an indefinite layoff of approximately 70% of employees.
A decision about when to resume production will be made based on evolving market conditions.
The layoffs are scheduled to begin on July 21, 2023.
