Owens Illinois (O-I) is to close a furnace and cut 50 jobs at its Adelaide, Australia, domestic media reports.
Adelaide Now reports the glass container maker is to cut one fifth of its workforce at the West Croydon site as a response to deteriorating sales to the wine industry.
One of the three furnaces at the plant will be decommissioned on October 3.
O-I said the plant had been impacted by an increase in bulk-wine exports, the high Australian dollar and deteriorating market conditions.
