O-I unveils MAGMA renewable glass manufacturing video

O-I Glass has released a video which offers a first look at its MAGMA glass manufacturing process.

The company is in the process of constructing its first, purpose built MAGMA factory in Bowling Green, KY, USA

The video uses live footage of MAGMA lines with insight as to the transformational nature of the new technology.

Ludovic Valette, O-I VP of Global Technology and Engineering, said: “MAGMA will set new standards in glass manufacturing, allowing us to use renewable sources of energy and more recycled content, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste.

“It provides scalability and rapid deployment, as well as lower capital intensity, mobility, flexibility, and consequently supply chain efficiency.”

The Bowling Green glassworks is expected to come on stream in mid-2024.
