The sale of the former Pilkington head quarters in St. Helen’s has been completed.
The building served as the company’s HQ for over 40 years, and has been bought by local property developers for an undisclosed sum.
Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) has transferred the 125 staff to its European technical centre at Lathom, near Ormskirk.
A company spokesman said: “We have unused space at our Lathom facility, so transferring employees to one location enables better utilisation of current facilities and a reduction in maintenance costs.
“There will be no job losses as a result of the move.”
The Pilkington company was founded in St. Helen’s in 1826 and has been a major employer for the area.
Nippon Sheet Glass acquired the company in 2006, with an evaluation of £1.8bn.
