Rejuvenated by strong vehicle sales, Pittsburgh Glass Works LLC has begun hiring between 50 and 60 workers at its windscreen manufacturing plant in Creighton, USA.

The company, which is 40% owned by PPG Industries Inc., has also begun staffing a plant it recently opened in Poland, an executive of the North-Shore-based company said.

“The demand for our products in the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market has gone up, so we’re increasing production at Creighton,” said Robert McCullough, Vice President of Human Resources.

Year-to-date through October 2012, the US auto industry sold 11.9 million vehicles; a 13.8% increase from year-ago levels, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association.
