Bolivian president Evo Morales has officially inaugurated a new $59 million glass plant in the country.

The Envibol container glass site has a capacity of 130 tonnes a day and produces bottles of 620 millilitres and 330ml among others.

Managing Director Oscar Sandy told Bolivian TV programme El Pueblo es Noticia that workers from Uruguay will train its 147 staff until December 31.

About 15 specialists, with at least 30 years experience, will train workers mainly in the handling and care of the machines.

The factory is located in the municipality of ZudaƱez, department of Chuquisaca. Construction work began in 2016.

Italian group BDF Industries secured the turnkey supply of the furnace, forehearths and control automation of the casting process.
